NewsRaboDirect is pleased to announce the launch of the 2015 Conversions for Community program, recognising the unsung heroes of community Rugby in Victoria.

Now in its second year, Conversions for Community aims to reward the efforts of dedicated volunteers who contribute to their local Rugby community. In 2014, Conversions for Community awarded over $50,000 to eight finalists recognising their selfless contribution to Rugby Union at the grass roots level.

Nominations are now open for the 2015 program and RaboDirect are accepting applications from all areas of the Victorian Rugby community including social, charities, clubs and schools.

During the course of the 2015 season, eight Conversions for Community finalists will each receive:

  • $5,000 for their local Rugby community
  • $1,000 in a RaboDirect High Interest Savings Account
  • Two tickets to a Rebels home game in the Chairman’s Lounge as guests of RaboDirect

Finalists will also be invited to attend the Weary Dunlop lunch in October 2015 where the Conversions for Community Volunteer of the Year will be announced. The winner will receive a personalised trophy and an additional $5,000 from RaboDirect for their Rugby community.

Greg McAweeney, Group Executive RaboDirect & Marketing and Conversions for Community judge said RaboDirect aimed to recognise and reward the efforts of volunteers in the Victorian Rugby community. “We received an overwhelming amount of nominations in 2014 and look forward to another successful year of Conversions for Community in 2015,” he said.

The Conversions for Community program allows anyone from the Victorian Rugby community to nominate a volunteer. Entries will be judged based on how the individual best demonstrates the Melbourne Rebels’ Five Star pledge of:

  1. Respect
  2. Excellence
  3. Balance
  4. Ethos
  5. Leadership

If you know someone who does their bit for the Rugby community, whether they’re a volunteer in the canteen, a local referee who officiates back-to-back matches or a Club President who never, ever misses a match and deserves a pat on the back. NOMINATE them today!
