Andrew Main

Andrew Main
Business Editor
The Australian

Andrew Main is the Business Editor of The Australian. He's been a financial reporter since 1979 but a darker secret is that he was a stockbroker from 1987 to 1992 in Sydney, Paris and London.

His main fascination is with business affairs that go wrong so he can bore significantly on many subjects including the Collapse of HIH Insurance, the Offset Alpine Printing saga and the Life and Times of Rodney Adler.

He shared a Walkley Award in 2003 over the Offset Alpine affair with colleagues at his then employer, the Australian Financial Review. He is the author of two books: "Other People's Money- the Complete Story of the Extraordinary Collapse of HIH'' and ""Rivkin Unauthorised- the Meteoric Rise and Tragic Fall of an Unorthodox Money Man''. He prefers short titles but as you can see, he was overruled by the publisher.

He currently has a regular radio spot with Deborah Cameron on ABC 702 in Sydney in which he tries to unravel the mysteries of business.
